How the estimate works
- Bricks per m² of single-skin wall: stock brick 52, maxi brick 33, hollow block 12.5 (10 mm joints).
- 5% is added for cutting and breakage.
- Mortar at a 1:6 mix uses roughly one 50 kg bag of cement per 150 stock bricks, 110 maxi bricks or 60 blocks, with about 0.22 m³ of building sand per bag.
- Double-skin walls need double the bricks; cavity walls also need ties.
These are planning figures. Your engineer or builder’s specification takes priority, and brick foundations, lintels and plaster are extra.
